Don’t be Tool Stockpile.
I know it has been a few days since my last post, I do
apologize for that. My family and I have bought some land and we were doing
some work on it. But it did give me an idea for an article so I am back and
here you go.
Today I would like to talk about tools. Okay so what can I
say about tools that you guys don’t already know, well for one thing maybe I
can list a few you have not thought about. This one here will be in list form.
1. Garden Hoe.
2. Hamer.
3. Multi tool. (Gerber, Letherman.)
4. Axe. (double headed Axe. Splitting maul.)
5. Outdoors man Kit. (this kit will consist of a hatchet,
Machete a range of blades to be used for wood working as well as gutting and
skinning tools.)
6. pry bar
7. shovel (I usually keep the smaller style shovels in my
truck but a couple of regular sized shovels are handy for at the retreat, as
well as a compliment of gardening tools.)
8. Snatch blocks. (these are like pulleys except you use
them to get a better grab on large items that you want to pull, like say a log,
if you need a large log pulled but you can’t get the right angle on it you wrap
a chain around the base of a tree then attaché a snatch block you can use that
angle to move the block in the direction you want the log.)
9. Pulleys. (as stated above combined with a snatch block
you will be able to move and lift what you need.)
10. small pruning shears. (if you need to make a blind these
will help just make sure that you pull your braches away from where your blind
will be.)
11. firearm cleaning
kit.
12. 2 way handheld radios. (if you cannot get the crystals
you would need to encrypt them or bump the channels to a different frequency be
careful in their use as they can be triangulated.)
13. small travel size solar panels. (great for charging the
little items you might need day to day.)
This list is completely expandable based on your groups
needs. Most of the tools I have listed you would use around the retreat, and
other would be set aside for bug out.
Something I wish I had covered earlier but had forgot to was
the use of Army Surplus phones. Getting few of these Vietnam era phones will be
a great asset to you and your people. When setting up your, OP outpost you will
need to be able to communicate with your look out posts as well as your Operations
center so make sure you get plenty of Como wire and when setting these systems
up burry the wire so that it cannot be cut. Also make sure you have plenty more
because if you have to bug out this would be one thing you would want to take
with you.
