“I have the POWER.”
Today I thought I would go back and cover power generation. I
will start with wind power and storage , with a brief add on about solar power
and ending with chicken power. This will be brief as you can find most if not
all of the information online.
Harness the power of mother nature. Green energy for the
health of our planet and our children, that’s what people are telling us all
over the world, but for our purposes we will simplify this.
Wind power is a great way to capture freely energy that we
can use in our everyday lives. Sadly the ability to use it reliably depends on
mother nature. But we will cover it
today. So there are different ways of making a wind generator, you can take an
electric motor and wire it so that instead of using power it provides power many
times going this route can be difficult, 1. You have to have a motor that can
spin easily and freely, and my opinion is that it’s too much of a pain to find
the right motor. I prefer using alternators from cars, my favorite one to use
is a GM single wire no load alternator. No load means that the RPMS of the
Alternator does not have to be all that high to get a charge flowing from the
alternator. Using a row of batteries wired in tandem will provide you with the
ability to store the power and use it as
needed. When wiring the batteries you will need to make sure that you wire them
to the desired voltage output. I do not know the conversion table for this, but
I assume you all can just search the internet to find the right information for
doing it. You will need a power inverter
and you can buy these from many different stores such as Harbor Freight,
make sure you get a few extras as backups.
For your wind generator you will need to build a few towers
that you can attach to your converted Alternator . It is highly advisable that
you make a lever that you can use to stop the fan blades from moving this will
help if you have to shut it down when you have excessive winds as well as give
you the ability to make repairs. Build
an enclosure for your motor so it is not destroyed by the elements.
Solar panels are a great way to generate power and you can
buy the fairly cheap at Harbor Freight, these usually come in ready to set up
kits and are fairly easy to install, you will have to buy enough of them and
wire them up to get the desired output you want. There are instructions in the
kit that will walk you through this.
Chicken power. Here I will provide you with a link that I personally
feel will be better resource than listening
to me try to explain it. This does work
as I have used this method for powering a vehicle. heating a house as well as a generator and
cooking. You can find anything you need
at the moment on the internet I suggest you take the time and search out things
that I list here, you can also make bio diesel but you should know that the
process is very time consuming.

if anyone would like to weigh in on this that would be great.
ReplyDeleteI like the chicken power idea. I def plan on raising chickens, as I have raised several hundreds already. And boy! do they generate the "power"!!!! Nifty idea, I shall research it further!! Nice to know you've been down the path and know it works!! Will have to make sure my bro Fred sees this. Thank you!!
ReplyDeletenot a problem, funny fact when i was in Iraq and during some down time myself and a couple of the Mechanics built a battery powered rock crawler we used an old motorcycle engine to charge the battery's, and ran it off of an LP gas that we made from chicken crap.
ReplyDeleteLol, Sounds just like something Fred would do, when bored, engineer some mechanical toy to play with, and someone says it can't be done, that's all the better!! So did you get the chicken poopy from the local villagers? Meat chickens, 100-200 at a time generate a pretty deep pile of poopy. I know it is very high in nitrogen, so it makes good sense to me to utilize that energy further rather than waste it.
