In to the Fray

Okay my friends and fellow Patriots I am going to lay something out here for you all to think about.

With today’s political climate, the condition of our Economy, and the attack from our federal government on our civil rights, I have decided that I should attempt to spread some ideas and maybe a little wisdom to my friends here.

For a while now we have all been giving each other little tips on face book to help as a just in case this happens.  It occurred to me that maybe someone should try to outline a good paper for everyone to look at and expound on the ideas. The first thing I would like to discuss with you all is a BOR (Bug Out Rig)

A BOR. Is a rig that is mechanically sound, 4X4, all mechanical. Another words it is a highly maneuverable very reliable rig. My personal preference for these rigs are International scouts they are cheap easy to work on and very capable. One thing I like about them is that the front windshield is almost 90 degrees straight up and down, the reason for this is a fly over, (plane, drone, or chopper) the window is not easily visible with light reflecting off of it. This is the same reason why our hummers have their windows at a 90 degree angle. You can still get parts for these rigs dating all the way back to 1961. These trucks have plenty of cargo room and extra seating if needed. Make sure that whatever vehicle you buy you get one with points and condenser ignition as this is easily replaced if there is an EMP.

Another topic is groups or better yet a survivalist group. A survivalist Group is a group of people who get together in case of an emergency, you pool your resources for the betterment of the group. Remember no one man can do this on his own. I would suggest that any  group keep their numbers around 20, you must be able to trust everyone in your group. Next chip in and buy a piece of remote land, small towns and communities could be helpful but try to steer clear of populated areas as these areas are easy targets for looters ect . if you have enough resources to acquire some land make sure you fortify it. Leave room to grow a garden and raise chickens. Chickens have many uses aside from providing food, they keep the bugs down, there feces can be used as a fertilizer as well as a fuel, I will give you more on that later, but right now the focus is on survival for your group. You will need to set up watches I would suggest but this would be based on how your group feels about it but a good watch rotation is one that will make sure everyone is plenty rested and alert, as well as working party’s this should be scheduled around the watch, everyone in a group must work for the group. Elect a leader pick someone who can keep a cool head in bad situations, ultimately it is the leader or your group that will give you solidarity, make sure that you stay busy. Staying busy will help to combat depression, so exercise even if you hate it. One more note this is to the leader of your group and is only a suggestion, always get the input from your group and don’t try to handle everything yourself, put things to a vote if it helps but keep in mind ultimately it is the leaders who make the final decisions.
Now earlier I mentioned fuel, so I will now elaborate on that, chicken manure is great for making an LP gas and it is done like so. With a very large pressure cooker shovel the chicken manure in to it use a hot plate and a solar panel rated for the amps to heat the manure to 80 degrees and maintain. Attach a high pressure hose leading from the lit to a propane take (note make sure you keep this away from your group and have plenty of line leading to the tank) you can shut the flow of gas to the tank by turning the valve on the tank you can use water to see how full the tank is by pouring it over the tank. It is better if you get a sticker designed to tell you how full the tank is.

Fire arms this will be based on my personal feeling and is subject to how your group feels. My preference for calibers are as follows. 22 cal nice little round that can be used for hunting fairly quiet and cheap, buy as many rounds as you can. For a side arm I am partial to the Glock .40 cal this weapon is widely used by law enforcement in all 50 states  and in most cases you can buy these at discounted prices from surplus stores. The .40 cal is great because it has the stopping power of a .45 without the blow through. The 9mm in my opinion is a waste often times you have to take more than one shot to bring you opponent down. Now for rifles I am fond of the 308 rifle and the 30-06 both great rounds these rifles are straight shooting weapons and their range is well documented. A riot shot gun well I don’t have to explain that one. Now for the last rifle I want to talk about. The AR 15 .223 or 5.56 NATO these weapons are cheap you can pick up a bushmaster for 600 bucks these are the most common rounds used by para military police as well as every branch of the armed forces and the rounds are cheap as well as easily obtained.

You should not go looking for trouble but you should always be aware of the fact that trouble will  seek you out. Looters are a problem in any given society that fails as well as other aspects of a social collapse. I encourage everyone to read books on plants and fauna, learn how to make soap as well as toothpaste the last thing you want is a field expedient tooth extraction, tampons stock up on these they will not one help to keep mother nature corked but they also make great first responder blood stoppers, just stuff one in a wound to stop bleeding. Another thing while I am on the subject is everyone should read and learn combat first aid.

That is all for now
Kevin Gardner your friendly survivalist guru.
More to come.

  3. I have several lbs of cayenne pepper on hand. Excellent source of vitamin A/nutrition/antibiotic properties as well as an excellent blood stop. Imo, something everyone should have growing on their property is comfrey. Has the healing properties of both aloe vera and slippery elm bark. Old timers call it knit-bone. Goat milk soap and baking soda leave my teeth feeling like they've just been polished by the dental hygienist. Also, here is an excellent toothpaste recipe: http://users.sa.chariot.net.au/~dna/toothpaste/index.htm
